Slapp Creator Chosen As Brent East Conservative Candidate

The Conservatives have chosen the creator of a beauty app as their candidate for Brent East at the next general election.

At Brent East Conservative Association’s selection meeting on March 19, Jamila Robertson was selected to challenge Labour’s Dawn Butler.

Known for her beauty products app, ‘Slapp’, Ms Robertson is now setting her sights on politics.

She traces her inspiration back to Margaret Thatcher and plans to motivate Brent’s youth with her success story.

Ms Robertson said: “I offer a future that encourages and uplifts the resourceful and diverse population of Brent, and one that they deserve.”

Sapna Chadha, chair of Brent East Conservative Association, said: “We had three excellent female candidates each with their own personal stories, experience and understanding of the issues facing the residents in Brent.

“Jamila stood out to our members with her pledges and we look forward to introducing her to the community.”

Ms Chadha added: “I’d also like to highlight the support of Women2Win and the Conservative Women’s Organisation, in getting more women to stand for public office.”
